5th May 2026

The annual Ringers Classic 3-Day festival takes place every May Bank Holiday at the iconic Bream Mecca Ferry Meadows!

However, with the huge bream about to spawn it proved a challenging event this year and in this latest match diary video I share with you all of the twists and turns of the 2026 event...

The BIG League Finish!

26th April 2026

Final round of the Southfield Spring League today and with 65 anglers on and the top 15 getting paid out loads of people have had plenty to fish for!

I’ve drawn peg 23 and fished long all day with F1 Green again with worms, pinkies and maggots and it’s been hard again but I’ve found 11 fish which have gone 9lb 6oz for another section win :)

3 of us have ended up on the same points of 4 section wins and a 2nd but unfortunately I missed the first round due to being at the Golden Rod Feeder Final so I’ve missed out on count back to end up 3rd overall and a £600 payday!

Huge congratulations to Paul Lancaster on the win and Mick Axon taking 2nd well done lads and a big thank you to Mick and Trev for running another enjoyable and flawless event.

Now it’s a week of filming podcasts and coaching before the Ferry Meadows 3 Dayer next weekend  Have a great week baggers!

13 Fish but the WRONG stamp!

19th April 2026

Back to Southfield today for the penultimate round of the Spring League!

I drew second from end peg 58 and fished exactly the same as the previous 3 rounds with a VERY different outcome...

I’m really pleased to have managed 13 fish but frustratingly only one of them was a decent stamp  They’ve weighed 5lb 12oz for second in section for the all important 2 points which takes me to 2nd in the league with one round to go.

Big well done to Paul Lancaster on the section win with just under 8lb on the end great job mate!

I’ve heard Mick Axon has had 21lb further down the bank which I’m sure will have won the match well done mate!

Off for food with dad now before a 5am start tomorrow to Tunnel Barn Farm for the first round of the Fishub Premier League :)

Hope you have a great evening baggers!

MATCH WIN and another 1 Point!

12th April 2026

Back to Southfield today for the latest round of the Spring League!
For the first time in the 15 years I’ve been coming here I’ve drawn peg 1 in the woods!
There’s so much water to have a go at on this peg so I’ve kept it simple with a line at 20m and one at 50m with F1 Green again...
After 50 minutes I’ve had 4 fish for about 2lb then a 2lb bream and a then a 3lbr got me on my way. The small fish have then disappeared so every bite I’ve had was a bream but they vanished with 2 hours to go as they seemed to have moved down to pegs 6-10 where they have caught a few late in the match.
I’ve ended with just over 30lb to win the match and the all important 1 point for the league :)
It’s a full week now of coaching and filming for our new online fishing courses  big thanks to Mick and Trev for running another flawless match in great company  Dads opted for chicken nuggets AGAIN!
Well done all the framers and hope you have a great week baggers :)

3rd PLACE AGAIN and Another 1 Point!

5th April 2026

Back to the Southfield “Wave pool” today for the latest round of the Spring League!

After last week’s success I’ve fished exactly the same on peg 32 with the 13ft Horizon Ultra Pro Distance long and the good old Sonubaits F1 Green Groundbait ;)

It took 3 1/2 hours to get my first bite but I’ve ended up with 2 skimmers and 2 bream for 10lb 6oz to win the section and the all important 1 point for the league and it’s been enough for 3rd in the match again  It’s been another enjoyable challenge with a great set of lads :)

3 rounds to go!

Dad’s in his chair already asleep it’s been a looooong day Zzzzzz

3rd PLACE AND A GREAT START TO THE LEAGUE!

29th March 2026

Back to Southfield Reservoir today after a few months off for the start of the Spring League!

It’s been ‘rather windy’ but I had a simple game plan focusing long with the 13ft Horizon Ultra Pro 100g which has been brilliant especially when the wind picked up.

F1 Green was the mix again and my first bite wasn’t until 12:30 which I bumped on the strike  I’ve kept plugging away and managed a 2lb bream then 2 big girls in the final hour which have gone 9lb 12oz which has been 3rd in the match and won the section for the all important 1 point!

It’s been great to be back in the company of some great friends  Dad’s decided on chicken nuggets out of the winnings :)

2nd PLACE IN THE £10,000 FINAL!

27th March 2026

Today was the £10,000 Guru Feeder Cup Final at Ulley Reservoir! Having not fished it before I spent 4 hours on it last week to get a feel for the depths etc but all I could muster was 6 tiny roach  So, I decided not to fish it again until the final...

I’ve been on peg 8 and caught everything at 45m with tiny baits with Sonubaits Deep Water Groundbait and shorter, 3 minute casts were best when the fish were there!

I’ve ended with 9 skimmers, a good perch and 10 little fish for 10lb 12oz which has been enough for second place and the £1,500 cheque :)

Massive congratulations to Stuart Grey on the win with 14lb odd well done mate and to Andy Kinder taking 3rd place!

Huge thanks to Marc Foy, Matt Wright and all the Guru lads for running the event and to Guru for generously sponsoring the event.

Dads had his fish n chips and he’s looking forward to seeing all the old hands at Southfield on Sunday for the start of the spring league.

Have a great weekend baggers!

MATCH WIN and into the £10K Final!

6th March 2026

Headed to Elsecar reservoir today for a 10k Guru Feeder Cup qualifier and with a very cold wind blowing into us it’s fished even harder than expected!

I’ve plugged away at 15m and 30m with the 11ft Ultra Pro Slims, F1 Green, 16’s Finesse Feeder to 0.12 Soft Steel hooklengths for 20 skimbobs for 5lb 2oz which has won the match and secured a place in the 10k final at Ulley Reservoir!

Great to see some of the lads again and thanks for running such a good event so close to home :)

Dad’s ordered an extra LARGE fish cake!

Hope you have a great weekend baggers!

4th in the League and a 50LB FINISH!

28th February 2026

Today's been the final round of the Drennan Lindholme Leisure Lakes Bomb & Feeder League but with a cold wind blowing and a drop in temperatures we were hoping for the best!

I've drawn Benny's 48 in the back-bowl which can be a bit feast-or-famine but thankfully I've found a few fish to avoid a blowout. I've caught mainly at 6m and down my right hand margin with an open method feeder with micro Bandum wafters over F1 corn and whilst I haven't had any real runs of fish I've managed 19 F1's which has added 50lb to my tally and has won the section.

That's put me on a total of 236lb which has been enough to finish 4th in the league taking home £600! It's been a really interesting league again with slight changes in bait, feeding and timings making a huge difference but that's made it even more enjoyable

Dad's been in the Anglers Arms Lindholme Lakes all day loving life and the awesome hospitality and a massive thanks to Alex Dockerty Angling page for the running the league and to Chicken and Aaron Clarke Grantham for weighing in AND all the free food after each match!

Massive congratulations to Mr Bexon on the league win and all the framers

Enjoy your Saturday evening baggers!

FESTIVAL WIN!

19th February 2026

Final day of the Larford Silver Fish Festival and the fishing has been VERY different in our section at the top end of the Burr!

I’ve fished exactly the same as yesterday and most bites were in the first 30 seconds but today I’ve had to really bore-them-on...

I’ve ducked and dived for 4.4kg to win the section and win the festival!

Feeding wise every day has been different but I’ve kept it simple and fished with Match Method Dark, the 3.3m Ultra Slim rods and fished 15m and 30m every day.

The live match film will be on YouTube over the next few days and I’d like to say a huge well done to Ian Giddins for not only winning the final day but for running yet another flawless festival well done mate!

It’s been a great 4 nights away with dad and I’m sure he’ll be sleeping all the way home :)

Thanks again for all the great messages everyone!
